Report: Ravens Lose TE Dennis Pitta For The Season

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Ravens TE Dennis Pitta is expected to miss the entire 2013 season after he suffered a dislocated hip during Saturday’s practice.

  • Albert Breer reports that Pitta has a hip fracture and is subsequently out for the year.
  • Aaron Wilson reports that Pitta will undergo surgery Saturday and will likely be placed on the injured reserve list.
  • An NFL source informed Josina Anderson that the “ball is in” free agent TE Visanthe Shiancoes court and “it’s his decision to make” whether or not he signs with the Ravens.

Previous reports indicated that Pitta may only miss a few months, but Schefter’s sources mentioned that the severity of the injury will keep him out for the season.

Ed Dickson, 26, vaults to the top of the Ravens’ depth chart. It would make sense for the team to bring in another player at some point in the next few weeks as they only have Billy Bajema behind Dickson right now.

Pitta was a restricted free agent this offseason, so it’s really hard to not feel for this guy as many expected him to have an incredible season.
