Report: Ravens View ILB Daryl Smith As A Priority Signing

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens now view free agentĀ ILB Daryl Smith a priority signing, now that they’ve locked up TE Dennis Pitta to a long-term deal.

  • Wilson adds that a new contract is not imminent at this time.

Re-signing LT Eugene Monroe figures to be priority No. 1, especially after they parted with draft compensation early last season to get him, and the fact that they currently do not have an adequate replacement on their roster.

Smith, 31, has done enough this season to warrant a multi-year contract after he signed just aĀ one-year deal worth $1.125 million last year. Last year, he totaledĀ 123 tackles, five sacks, two inceptions — one was returned for a touchdown — and two forced fumbles.

The Broncos and Titans have been mentioned as two teams that could have interest in Smith should he reach the open market in the coming weeks.

We have both Smith and Monroe listed in ourĀ Top 50 Free Agents list.
