Report: Redskins Have Interest In Re-Signing CB E.J. Biggers

Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports that the Redskins have expressed interest in re-signing CB E.J. Biggers.

  • Jones mentions that Biggers was a “decent backup with capability to fill in at cornerback and safety.”

Biggers, 26, signed a one-year contract worth $1.5 million with the Redskins last year. The fact that the Redskins hired former Buccaneers HC Raheem Morris as their defensive backs coach last year likely played a role in Washington signing Biggers.

Washington moved him around a bit during the 2013 season, but mainly played free safety for the team. According to Pro Football Focus, Biggers played 432 snaps at safety and rated as the No. 80 safety in the league out of 86 qualifying players.

Biggers totaled 35 tackles, an interceptions and two passes defended in 2013.

It appears as though the Redskins are focused on retaining a number of their impending free agents this offseason, as they are reportedly working on a contract extension with DeAngelo Hall as well.
