Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the Redskins have officially promoted TE coach Sean McVay to offensive coordinator.
Report have indicated that McVay was the favorite for the job since it was announced that Jay Gruden would be the team’s new head coach. It is a bit of surprising move given that new coaches tend to hire outside of the organization, but McVay is well thought of among Redskins players.
Gruden is expected to be the team’ player-caller next season while McVay, 27, gets a feel for his new position.
