Report: Redskins Shutting Down TE Jordan Reed For The Season

Ross Jones of FOXSports.com reports that the Redskins will shut down TE Jordan Reed for the remainder of the season.

  • Jones’ sources added that Washington didn’t want to risk any further injury to their young tight end.

HC Mike Shanahan mentioned on Thursday that team had yet to decide whether or not Reed would play again this season, but it appears as though the team will employ the strategy they used with QB Robert Griffin III.

Reed suffered a concussion back in Week 11, but hasn’t suited up since. It appeared as though he could be back a few weeks ago, but he was a surprising last-minute inactive.

Reed will finish the season with 45 receptions for 499 yards and three touchdowns if he is in fact shutdown.
