Report: Roy Helu’s 2014 Base Salary Will Double Next Season

According to the Washington Times, RB Roy Helu has activated a “proven performance escalator” in his contract that will more than double his salary next season.

Helu was slated to make $645,000 in 2014, but after playing in more than 35 percent of the Redskins’ offensive snaps in two of his three season in the NFL he will now make $1.389 million.

Helu, 25, has proven to be a solid compliment to Alfred Morris and figures to remain in a complimentary role with the team next season. He will be entering the final year of his rookie contract, so this figures to be a very important season for him and his chances of securing a multi-year contract.

In 34 games in the NFL, Helu has totaled 916 yards rushing on 215 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with 675 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns.
