Ryan Tannehill Has A Better Than “50-50” Shot Of Playing Sunday

ESPN’s Ed Werder updates Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill status by tweeting that he currently has a “better than 50-50” of suiting up against the Colts.

There’s a good chance that we won’t know whether or not he’ll be a go until hours before the game.

Dolphins rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill was still wearing a brace and compression over his left knee when he took all of the first team reps in practice Thursday, per Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post.

“Tannehill is still clearly favoring his knee, but it doesn’t appear to be anything that will keep him out of Sunday’s game against the Colts,” wrote Volin. “He showed good mobility on Thursday, both in dropping back from under center and in rolling out of the pocket, and had a few nice throws on the run.”

However, Jason Cole of Yahoo is reporting that Tannehill had his knee drained before and after practice and give him a “50-50” shot of playing this weekend.

With conflicting reports, it’s hard to know where Tannehill is at in terms of his health. The fact that he’s had his knee drained twice says he is experiencing a good amount of swelling, which doesn’t bode well for his mobility.

If Tannehill is unable to go, Matt Moore would step in as his replacement. In backing up Tannehill during last week’s victory over the Jets, Moore was 11 of 19 with 131 yards and one touchdown. We’ll know more about Tannehill’s status as we get closer to Sunday.
