Report: Saints Discussing Extensions With WR Joe Morgan & S Rafael Bush

Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that the Saints are discussing contract extensions with S Rafael Bush and WR Joe Morgan.

  • Holder also confirms recent reports that the Saints are also talking to RT Zach Strief and OLB Parys Haralson about new contracts as well.

Holder mentions that Saints view Strief as a “high priority” in free agency, but adds that it will difficult for New Orleans to get any long-term deal done at this point.

Both Bush and Morgan are restricted free agents, but Holder writes that Bush is more likely to receive a restricted tender than Morgan.

The Saints could be trying to lock these guys up to salaries less than the lowest restricted tender of $1.39 million.

Morgan, 25, signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Walsh University. He totaled 10 receptions for 379 yards receiving and three touchdowns in 13 games for the Saints in 2012. However, Morgan missed all of 2013 season due a torn ACL.

Bush, 26, appeared in 13 games for the Saints last season totaling 42 tackles, a fumble recovery and five pass defenses.
