Ramon Vargas of the Baton Rouge Advocate, citing a league source, reports that the Saints are interested in working out a new contract with impending free agent WR Robert Meachem in the coming weeks.
Vargas adds that the Saints reportedly “broached” the topic of a new contract on Friday. However, Meachem’s asking price will obviously dictate whether or now he’ll be back in New Orleans next year.
Meachem, 29, lasted just a little over a year in San Diego after he signed a four-year, $25.5 million contract that included $14 million guaranteed. He joined the Saints back in September after the Chargers elected to part ways.
He finished the 2014 season 16 receptions for 324 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
