Saints & LB Junior Galette Agree On Four-Year, $41.5M Extension

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the Saints and OLB Junior Galette have reached an agreement on a four-year contract extension.

  • Rapoport adds that the four-year extension is worth $41.5 million and includes $23 million guaranteed.
  • Galett’s contract can become  La four-year deal worth $48 million if he posts 12 sacks his year, according to Rapoport.
  • Galette’s agent, Alvin Keels, has already announced the deal via his Twitter account.

Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reported Tuesday that the two sides had reached an agreement, but both Galette and his agent both publicly refuted his report.

  • Getlin mentions that the terms of the deal were agreed to before today.

Galette, 26, was entering the second year of his three-year, $6.3 million contract that included $3.5 million guaranteed. He has a base salary of $1.4 million coming his way over the next two years.

Last season, Galette appeared in all 16 games and recorded 40 tackles, 12 sacks, a forced fumble and two recoveries.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 12 outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense last year.
