Report: Saints NT Brodrick Bunkley Likely To Miss “Several Weeks”

Ian Rapoport reports that Saints NT Brodrick Bunkley will be out “several weeks” after he suffered a calf injury during Week 1’s win over the the Falcons.

  • Rapoport adds that the injury isn’t season-ending.

The fact that New Orleans has already used their injured reserve designation that allows a player to return later in the season on LB Jonathan Vilma means that they’ll have to carry him on their 53-man roster.

Bunkley was seen sporting a walking boot and on crutches after Sunday’s game. The Saints are likely to turn to third-round pick John Jenkins for the time being.

New Orleans defense is already without OLB Will Smith, OLB Victor Butler and DE Kenyon Coleman for the season, so they can hardly withstand any more injuries to their starting unit.
