Breaston, 29, was just signed two weeks ago, but apparently didn’t make enough of an impression to convince them that he was worth a roster spot. Breaston has been dealing with a knee injury, so there’s a good chance that this factored into the team’s decision.
New Orleans also released LB Chase Thomas and placed Saints placed DE Kenyon Coleman on IR.
Adam Schefter reports that the Saints have signed Steve Breaston to a one-year deal.

Breaston, 29, recently worked out for the Lions, but they chose to sign Chaz Schilens instead. The Steelers and Browns had also shown some interest months, but the fact that he was still dealing with some knee inflammation likely prevented talks from progressing.
Marques Colston is dealing with a foot injury, so they could use some additional help in case they suffer another injury. The Saints’ receiving corp includes Lance Moore, Joe Morgan, Nick Toon and Kenny Stills.
