Graham is in the final year of his slotted rookie deal and, assuming he doesn’t suffer a major injury, figures to be in line for a huge contract extension next offseason.
The Saints could always apply their franchise tag to him, but if any tight end could win the argument that they should be paid like a wide receiver, it’s Graham. Pro Football Focus points out that Graham has spent 58.7 percent of his snaps split out wide or in the slot this season.
It makes sense that the Saints would try to get a deal done now given that waiting until the offseason would only increase his overall asking price.
On the season, Graham has totaled 358 yards receiving and four touchdowns. We have Graham listed as the No. 1 player in our Top 50 – 2014 NFL Free Agents list.
