Report: Saints Releasing OLB Victor Butler

Kristian Garic of WWL 870am reports that the Saints are releasing veteran OLB Victor Butler as they work to get down to 75 players before tomorrow’s deadline.

  • Garic mentions that the Saints will free up $1.5 million in cap space following this move.

Butler, 27, signed two-year, $3 million contract that included $1.5 million guaranteed. He would have made $1.4 million for the 2014 season.

Butler unfortunately tore his ACL during offseason workouts last year and subsequently missed the entire 2013 season.

He spent the first four years of his career with the Cowboys after Dallas used a fourth-round pick on him during the 2009 draft.
