Report: Santonio Holmes Expected To Wait Until After The Draft To Sign With A New Team

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that free agent WR Santonio Holmes will likely wait until after the draft to sign with a new team.

  • Florio mentions that the deep class of receiver prospects could have an impact on his market given that teams in need of help at the position could see how things play out in May before approaching guys like Holmes.

Holmes, 29, was unsurprisingly cut loose by the Jets a few days before the start of free agency. He counted $10.75 million against the team’s salary cap, so it was a fairly easy decision to release him before they had to pay his $1 million roster bonus.

Last year, Holmes caught 23 passes for 456 yards receiving and a touchdown over the course of 11 games.

We have him listed as the No. 4 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.
