Santonio Holmes “Milking” Injury?

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York mentions that those within the Jets organization don’t know what to believe regarding WR Santonio Holmes injury.

A source close to the Jets is unsure of whether Holmes is still on his recovery process or if he is deliberately faking being injured as to protect his self interests.

Holmes suffered a lisfranc injury back in September 30th of last year, and while the injury is quite serious. it rarely takes an entire year to recover from considering the way players have come back from ruptured Achilles’ tendons and torn ACLs.

Holmes is aware that he will surely be released by the end of the seasons due to his $10.75 million cap hit in 2014. Therefore this will be a contract year for him, meaning he will not risk re-injuring his foot if it could hurt his value on the market.

Some expect Holmes to miss the rest of the preseason and than crank it up in a couple of weeks to get ready for September 8th as the Jets begin the season against the Bucs.
