Report: Seahawks & CB Richard Sherman Have Yet To Discuss An Extension

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that there hasn’t been any progress towards a long-term extension between the Seahawks and CB Richard Sherman.

Sherman, 25, will be entering the final year of his rookie contract and is clearly in the argument for the best cornerback in the league. As things stand right now, Sherman will make $1.389 million for the 2014 season.

Florio adds that Sherman and his agent are allowing the Seahawks time to figure out how they will address some of their impending free agents before engaging in contract talks.

Seattle will have their work cut out for them seeing as they have free agents like WR Golden Tate and DE Michael Bennett to address while still saving cap space to lock up extension candidates like Sherman and S Earl Thomas.

Overthecap.com has the Seahawks over the cap by $543,803 in their recent cap projections, so I’m sure we’ll be hearing about possible roster cuts and contract restructures in the coming days.
