Report: Seahawks DC Dan Quinn Among Candidates To Replace Jim Harbaugh In SF

Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report reports that the 49ers have begun the process of looking for a new head coach and are reportedly doing background work on Seahawks DC Dan Quinn, which is interesting given that Seattle is the 49ers main rival.

Cole adds that the 49ers are still considering offensive-minded coaches like Patriots OC Josh McDaniels as well.

If the 49ers were to look at in-house candidates to replace Jim Harbaugh, Cole mentions that OL coach Jim Tomsula would be the top candidate. According to Cole, Tomsula has been politicking for two years to get the job.

Offensive coordinator Greg Roman does have some support within the organization, but not enough for him to be a real candidate.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported over the weekend that the 49ers are expected to target a young offensive specialist to take over for Harbaugh next year, and they could consider McDaniels and Broncos OC Adam Gase for the job.

We’ll have more updates regarding the 49ers’ job and Harbaugh as the news is available.
