Seahawks Place DT Brandon Mebane On I.R. & Sign TE RaShaun Allen

Update:

The Seattle Seahawks have officially placed DT Brandon Mebane on season-ending injured reserve.

Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports is reporting that Seahawks DT Brandon Mebane is out for the season with a torn hamstring.

Head coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Monday that Mebane had a “legit” hamstring injury and was expected to miss “some time,” but it appeared as though he could return at some point.

This is horrible news for the Seahawks’ defense as Mebane has been a staple of their defensive line for a number of years now and will be extremely hard to replace.

Mebane, 29, is in the fourth year of his five-year, $25 million contract that included $9 million guaranteed. He’ll make $5.5 million for the 2015 season.

Mebane’s 2014 season ends with him appearing in nine games and recording 20 tackles and a sack. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 43 defensive tackle in the league out of 82 qualifying players.
