Report: Seahawks Increase Marshawn Lynch’s Salary

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Seahawks agreed to “bump upMarshawn Lynch’s base salary in order to persuade him to report to training camp.

According to Florio, the Seahawks increased his 2014 base salary from $5 million to $6 million and giving him $500,000 of what he would have made in 2015 upfront.

This means that Lynch will now make $6.5 million for the upcoming season.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Lynch receives no new money. Instead, the money was just moved around.
  • Rapoport adds that $1 million added to his salary are incentive based.
  • Mike Garafolo reports that the team won’t take back the $255,000 in fines that would have come from his signing bonus, but they are in talks about the other $240,000.

This is definitely a win for the running back, even if it’s just $1.5 million added to his salary this season. I’m sure the Seahawks feel good about it as well given that there is no new money added to the contract and they get Lynch back for camp.
