Seahawks Release WR Early Doucet 5 Days After Signing Him

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Seattle Seahawks have release veteran WR Early Doucet.

Doucet, 27, lasted just five days with the team being released. His release has to do with an injury that he’s currently dealing with.

He’s been banged up and he’s got some issues that we’re still working with right now,” said Carroll when asked about the Doucet’s injury, via Curtis Crabtree.

Pete Carroll praised fourth-round pick WR Chris Harper on Wednesday who could a some playing time this season. Sidney RiceGolden Tate and Doug Baldwin figure to Seattle’s top receiving options as they enter the season.

Ian Rapoport reports that the Seattle Seahawks will sign former Cardinals WR Early Doucet.

  • Rapoport adds that Doucet will receive a one-year deal. 

Doucet, 27, was brought in for a workout earlier in the week. Seattle has already lost Percy Harvin for what is believed to be a good portion of the regular season due to a hip injury and Sidney Rice just returned from Switzerland where he underwent a “non-surgical procedure.”

It will be interesting to see if he’s able to crack the team’s final roster.
