Report: Seahawks Won’t Franchise K Steven Hauschka

Tom Pelissero reports that the Seahawks will not use their franchise tag on K Steven Hauschka.

Franchising Hauschka was mentioned as a possibility, but it would have cost Seattle $3.556 million fully guaranteed for the 2014 season.

Hauschka, 28, is coming off of his best season in the NFL and was a Pro Bowl alternate for the NFC. He converted 33 of 35 field goal attempts (94.3%) and made all three of his 50-yard field goals this season.

Hauschka looks to be the best available kicker on the open market now that Graham Gano has re-signed with Carolina. I would expect the Seahawks to try to re-sign Hauschka before free agency is underway, but they do have some key players to address and limited cap space to work with.
