Sense Within Browns’ That Mike Pettine Will Be Fired On Monday

Update:

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Browns’ staffers left after a meeting with HC Mike Pettine Friday morning with the feeling like he’ll be fired after the season.

According to Cabot, Pettine spoke with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam about their coaching staff and was told that a decision wouldn’t be made until after the game. However, it’s possible a move will be made in the personnel department on Monday.

Cabot’s sources ultimately believe Pettine and defensive coordinator Jim O’Neil will both be fired after Sunday’s game. Although, there’s still la chance that offensive coordinator John DeFilippo will be given the opportunity to stay on with the team.

In addition to Pettine, GM Ray Farmer is also on the hot seat, according to Cabot.

We’ll have more updates regarding the Pettine and potential changes for the Browns as the news is available.

Rand Getlin of NFL Media reports that there’s a sense within the Browns that Sunday’s game will be Mike Pettine’s final as the team’s head coach.

While there have been a number of indications that Pettine’s job was likely on the line this season, barring significant improvement, Jason Cole of B/R recently reported that Pettine could still survive, even with the disappointing season.

Cleveland has managed to win just three games this season, but Cole’s sources indicated that GM Ray Farmer is actually the bigger problem in Cleveland.

Since taking over as the Browns’ head coach in 2014, Pettine has led the team to a record of 10-21 (32.3 percent).
