Ravens Reach An Agreement With TE Dallas Clark

Ravens HC John Harbaugh told reporters that they have reached an agreement with free agent TE Dallas Clark

Harbaugh cited Clark’s “great catch radius and crossing routes” as reason’s why the team chose to sign the veteran.

Injuries to established tight ends Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson have the Ravens tight end unit shallow in terms of depth with undrafted rookie Matt Furstenburg and veteran Visanthe Shiancoe the likeliest replacements.

Clark, 34, played in all 16 games for the Buccaneers last season. He tallied 47 receptions, 435 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns.

Aaron Wilson reports that league sources have informed him that there is “mutual interest” between the Ravens and veteran free agent Dallas Clark

Wilson adds that there’s no deal at this point in time. We’ll have more as the news is available.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that free agent TE Dallas Clark has re-affirmed his intentions of playing this season.

Schefter adds that a “deal could get done this week

Clark’s ties and familiarity with OC Jim Caldwell‘s offensive system would make the transition easier. The Steelers could also use some help at tight end now that Matt Spaeth underwent surgery to repair his Lisfranc injury and Heath Miller is out indefinitely.

At 34 years old, Clark’s best days are long gone, however the former Colts player appears to still have a bit left in the tank, enough for one more season of action before hanging his cleats.

If signed, Clark’s role would be that of a pass-catcher being targeted for short to medium passes.
