Report: Texans Actively Shopping The No. 33 Overall Pick As Well

Dan Pompei of the Bleacher Report reiterates that the Texans are trying to trade out of the No. 1 overall pick, but they may not be able to find “acceptable compensation” for the selection.

Interestingly enough, Pompei reports that the Texans have been “actively shopping” their No. 33 overall pick around the league.

Pompei believes this could be their best opportunity to acquire some extra draft picks as quarterback-needy teams are expected to trade up for whoever’s still on the board at that point in the draft.

The problem here is that the Texans happen to be one of these teams with an obvious need at quarterback. They would, of course, use the No. 1 overall pick on a quarterback like Johnny Manziel or possibly target a veteran option in the trade market.

The other issue is that teams in need of a quarterback may have to move up higher than No. 33 overall to come away with their prospect they’re targeting.

Of course, there’s still a chance that Houston will be able to move out of the top spot, but we’ll have to see if anything comes of the rumors in days leading up to the draft.
