Update: Trade Talks For No. 1 Expected To Pick Up When Texans Are On The Clock

Update:

Ian Rapoport that there is still a chance that the Texans could trade out of No. 1 overall as trade talks are expected to once the Texans are on the clock.

However, the consensus is that they will keep the pick unless someone blows them a way with an offer at the last minute.

Every indication is that South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney will be the first players selected tonight.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Houston Texans are “locked in” on their player and perfectly fine sitting at No. 1 overall and taking their guy.

  • Schefter adds that the Texans are not expecting to trade the pick.
  • According to Schefter, many expect the South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney.

Reports from this morning mentioned that the Texans were asking for first, second and third-round picks in 2014 and another 2015 first-round selection to move up to No. 1 overall.

While there has been some talk that Buffalo LB Khalil Mack could be their preference given that some think he’s a better fit in Romeo Crennel’s defensive system, it looks like they are leaning towards Clowney.

We have the Texans staying at No. 1 overall and taking Clowney in our final 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
