Report: Texans Place TE Owen Daniels On IR With Designation To Return

Update:

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Houston Texans have placed TE Owen Daniels on injured reserve with a designation to return.

  • Michael Gehlken of the Union Tribune reports that Texans signed TE Jake Byrne off of the Chargers practice squad on Wednesday.

Daniels suffered a non-displaced fibula fracture against the 49ers Sunday night and is expected to be out for at least eight weeks.

Garrett Graham will take over as their starting tight end for the foreseeable future.

Tania Ganguli reports that Texans TE Owen Daniels has been diagnosed with a non-displaced fibula fracture.

  • Ganguli adds that Daniels is expected to be sidelined for 4-6 weeks.

This is no doubt a big loss for the Texans’ offense. Daniels is a big target who is capable of making plays in the middle of the field. Matt Schaub has looked his way plenty over the years, but they will now turn to Garrett Graham as their starting tight end.

Houston will likely add Ryan Griffin off of their practice squad at some point in the near future.
