Report: Texans Release S Danieal Manning

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Houston Texans have released veteran S Danieal Manning.

Recent reports mentioned that the Texans were trying to come to an agreement with Manning on a restructured contract, but apparently the two sides were unable to find common ground.

Manning, 31, signed a four-year, $20 million contract that included $9 million guaranteed with the Texans back in 2011. He had one year remaining on his contract worth $4.5 million and would have counted $6 million against the team’s 2014 salary cap.

Last year, Manning suffered a hairline fracture of his right fibula and was limited to appearing in just six games.
