Report: Texans Release TE Owen Daniels

John McClain reports that the Houston Texans have released veteran TE Owen Daniels.

Reports from earlier in the day mentioned that Daniels was open to restructuring his contract in order be back with the team next season, but apparently the two sides were unable to reach an agreement.

Daniels, 31, was entering the final year of his four-year, $22 million contract that included $6 million guaranteed. Daniels had a cap figure of $6.25 million, and the Texans will free up close to $4.5 million in cap space with this move.

Last year, he appeared five games and caught 24 receptions for 252 yards and three touchdowns.
