Report: Titans Close To Hire Gregg Williams As Their Assistant Head Coach

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is on the “verge” of becoming the assistant head coach of the Tennessee Titans, pending Williams’ reinstatement to the league from his suspension.

CBS Sports’ Jason LaCanfora writes that Williams and the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell are expected to meet sometime next week to discuss Williams’ reinstatement.

The Rams recently fired Williams, who was hired prior to the 2012 season, and missed all of the season because of the suspension that was handed down for his involvement in the Bounty Gate scandal. Williams is very familiar in the Titans organization, as he worked for them from 1997 to 2000 as their defensive coordinator.
