Report: Falcons Have Reached Out To John Abraham About Returning, But He’s Not Interested

Update:

Mike Garafolo of USA Today reports that the Atlanta Falcons have actually reached out to free agent DE John Abraham regarding possible return, but according to sources, Abraham informed them that “it’s not going to happen.”

There was reportedly a “big push from inside the Falcons locker room” for the Falcons to re-sign Abraham, but it appears as though he has no intention of re-signing with the team that cut him loose just a few months ago.

Abraham has already met with the Titans, who are reportedly considering signing him to a contract, but Garafolo’s source added that he could end up visiting with another if doesn’t reach an agreement with Tennessee.

We had Abraham listed as the No. 4 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted Monday that the Tennessee Titans are entertaining the thought of signing former Falcons defensive end John Abraham.

Abraham was a cap causality of the NFC South champion Falcons last year. At the age of 35, his professional career may be nearing the end very soon. This likely could be his last stop in the National Football League.

The former first-round pick joined the Dirty Birds in 2006 after having spent the first six years of his tenure with the New York Jets.

Schefter also adds in the deal with the Titans, should it happen, could be done as soon as this week.
