Titans Concerned About Jake Locker Being Their QB Moving Forward?

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that doubt exists inside the Titans organization as to whether QB Jake Locker can succeed in the NFL.

• Schefter reports that there is at least one high level Titans official that has expressed major reservations regarding Locker’s ability.

While Locker has shown some signs of progress over the last two seasons, concerns regarding his health and his overall ability still exist.

The Titans got off to a 3-1 start with Locker as their quarterback this season before he was sidelined for two games due to an injury. Locker would later suffer a season-ending Lisfranc injury that cost him the final seven games of the season.

Still, Locker finished the year with a career best 60.7 pass completion percentage to go along with 1,256 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions. Pro Football Focus has Locker rated as the No. 22 qualifying quarterback in the league, which is ironically one spot behind backup Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Having played only 12 games in the last two seasons, a new head coach could opt for a new quarterback due to Locker’s struggles to remain healthy. Tennessee’s front office will need to make a decision regarding whether or not to pick up Locker’s 2015 option that would cost them $13 million. Recent reports indicated that the Titans are unlikely to do so.

For now, Locker will continue to rehab his Lisfranc injury in hope of being ready for the team’s offseason program.
