Terry McCormick reports that the Tennessee Titans have not been in contact with impending free agent CB Alterraun Verner regarding a contract extension.
- Jim Wyatt reported earlier in the week that the Titans and Verner still “aren’t close” to reaching an agreement on a new contract.
All indications coming out of Tennessee are that they are prepared to allow Verner to reach the open market and see where things go from there.
Verner, 25, is in great position to secure a solid contract on the open market as he’s coming off of a Pro Bowl season for the Titans. He finished the year with 57 tackles, five interceptions including one for a touchdown, two fumble recoveries and 23 passes defensed.
