Report: Tony Romo Won’t Play Today, Could Miss Week 10’s Game As Well

Desmond Purnell is reporting that Cowboys QB Tony Romo will not play in today’s game against the Cardinals.

  • Purnell adds that Romo has better chance of returning next week.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that Romo made the call not to play last night.
  • According to Rapoport, Cowboys’ coaches are already planning for the possibility of Tony Romo not traveling to London and allowing the pain in his back to dissipate during the bye.

Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reported Saturday that Romo is dealing with “two fractured transverse processes.

Dallas has said that this injury is unrelated to the disk surgery he underwent back in December of last year. Romo is not expected to miss the remainder of the season due to this injury, as Baylor QB Bryce Petty wound up missing only one game after he suffered a similar injury.

Brandon Weeden has taken all of Dallas’ first-team reps this week and would obviously be the team’s starter if Romo is in fact unable to suit up on Sunday.

We’ll have more updates regarding Romo’s status leading up to kickoff.
