Veteran CB Champ Bailey Works Out For The Lions

Update:

Ian Rapoport reports that free agent CB Champ Bailey‘s workout for the Lions “went well”, but as of now, a deal is not imminent.

  • Rapoport points out that the salaries vested veterans like Bailey are essentially guaranteed if they sign before Week 1.

With this in mind, Bailey may have to wait until next week to sign on with a new team.

Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com reports that veteran CB Champ Bailey is working out for the Lions on Thursday.

The Saints wound up releasing Bailey last weekend as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

Since his release, there has been speculation that a team like the Jets or Ravens could have interest in Bailey, but the Lions could also use some help at cornerback.

Bailey is 36, appeared in just five games last year due to a foot injury and recorded 14 tackles to go along with three passes defensed.

There are obvious questions about his ability moving forward, so we’ll have to see how things go with the Lions or if anyone else enters the picture for his services.
