Panthers Are “Not Trading Anyone”

Panthers interim GM Brandon Beane mentioned that they are “not trading anyone,” per Steve Reed.

So far, trade rumors are nonexistent even though we’re less than an hour away from the trade deadline. We’ll have more updates as soon as the news is available.

Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports that there’s “nothing shaking” in regards to a DeAngelo Williams trade and adds that he doesn’t expect him to be traded before today’s 4pm EST deadline.

Williams’ salary is prohibitive, so that has likely impacted the level of interest. There’s still five hours to go, so things can always change.

Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk reports that league sources have him informed him that there’s a “viable chance” that the Carolina Panthers trade RB DeAngelo Williams before tomorrow’s deadline.

Gantt adds that “several teams” have already been in contact with the Panthers regarding Williams and the interest among these teams is “serious.”

Williams contract seems like an impeding factor, but according to Gantt’s sources, the Panthers are “absolutely” prepared to take cap hit as long as it’s the right deal.

Gantt also mentions that it “seems apparent” Williams not be back with the Panthers next season, even if he’s not traded in the next 24 hours.

We’ll have more updates on this topic as the news becomes available.
