Report: Victor Cruz Expected To Sign Extension With Giants Before Camp

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that WR Victor Cruz is expected to sign a long-term deal with the Giants before the start of training camp.

“Everybody I’ve spoken to expects that deal to absolutely get done,” he said. “To a 100 percent degree of certainty, that Victor Cruz will have a new contract by the time the Giants open training camp.”

Mortensen adds that there are still some remaining details that need be worked out such as contract language, but no obstacles are expected.

Cruz, 26, is reportedly targeting as much as $15-18 million in guarantees and close to $10 million annually in his next contract. Previous reports indicated that the Giants are believed to willing to pay him $12-15 million in guaranteed, so it appears that the two sides have narrowed this gap to some degree.

We have Cruz listed as the No. 4 player in our Top 50 – 2014 Free Agents list.
