“I’m going to sign my tender today and will continue talks for a long-term deal before camp starts,” said Cruz, via Anderson.
New York placed a first-round tender on Cruz, so he stands to make $2.879 million for the 2013 season.
- Mike Garafolo reports that the two sides aren’t any closer to reaching an agreement on a long-term extension.
- Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that sources have informed him that a training-camp holdout for Cruz remains a possibility.
Despite signing his tender, Cruz could still elect to stay away from the team’s mandatory training camp and incur fines. The Giants could have reduced his tender by $2 million this season if he didn’t sign in the next three days.
Cruz, 26, can still work on a long-term extension with the Giants in the coming months.
We have Cruz listed as the No. 4 player in our Top 50 – 2014 NFL Free Agents list.
