“Mutual Interest” Between Packers & CB Tramon Williams Regarding New Deal

Update:

Jason Wilde reports that there’s still “genuine mutual interest” between Packers and free agent CB Tramon Williams in regards to bringing him back to Green Bay next year.

Williams has met with the Seahawks and Saints, and reportedly has interest from the Vikings and Eagles, so there is a decent market for his services, which could prove tough for the Packers if they stick with what they’re offering.

Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, citing a source, reports that the Vikings have inquired about free agent CB Tramon Williams, but that the source added that the interest level may not be “serious“.

Williams has been linked most often with the Saints and Eagles, but Minnesota would make sense as well.  They have inquired about free agent CB Chris Culliver as well.

It should be noted that Green Bay may increase their efforts to keep Williams after the loss of CB Davon House to Jacksonville.

Williams, 31, finished out his four-year contract worth $33 million with the Packers, which included $10,895,000 guaranteed.

In 2014, Williams appeared in all 16 games and recorded 71 tackles, three interceptions, a fumble recovery and 13 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 34 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.

We have Williams listed as the No. 51 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
