Report: Vikings Re-Sign DE Everson Griffen To A Five-Year Deal

Ian Rapoport reports that the Vikings are re-signing DE Everson Griffen to on a “huge” five-year contract.

  • ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Griffen receives a five-year contract worth $42.5 million deal that includes $20 mil guaranteed.
  • Rapoport adds that this contract will pay Griffen as an “upper-echelon” pass-rusher for the next three years.
  • Jim Corbett reports that Griffen will make $27 million over the first three years of his new contract.

Griffen, 26, appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and totaled 26 tackles, 5.5 sacks and a forced fumble, despite playing less snaps than either Jared Allen or Brian Robison.

We had Griffen listed as the No. 32 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Outstanding. Just my opinion, but I think that he has tremendous potential. He was very disruptive and had decent stats despite not getting a lot of playing time. I am looking forward to seeing the vikes with him and Robison at end. Now, can they find two dt’s that will cause us to make comparisons to the Williams wall?
