Vikings Place S Harrison Smith On IR With Designation To Return

Update:

Josina Anderson reports that the Minnesota Vikings have placed second-year S Harrison Smith on injured reserve with the designation to return.

Reports from Thursday indicated that Smith’s recent turf toe injury would like require surgery.

The Vikings will most likely turn to Andrew Sendejo with Smith out until Week 15.

Tom Pelissero reports that Vikings S Harrison Smith may need to undergo season-ending surgery on his turf toe injury.

  • Pelissero adds that the plan for now is to allow Smith some time to allow the injury heal.
  • According to Pelissero’s source, two doctors have already recommended surgery.
  • Smith will not play in Monday night’s game against the Giants.

This of course would be a huge blow to an already limited secondary. Andrew Sendejo replaced Smith on Sunday and figures to be the Vikings starter against the Giants, but Mistral Raymond and Robert Blanton could also get some snaps as well.

We’ll have more regarding Smith’s injury in the coming days.
