Report: Vikings Will Start Matt Cassel In Week 14

Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press spoke with Vikings QB Matt Cassel who mentioned Wednesday morning that he will get the start against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14.

Josina Anderson reported earlier in the day that Cassel was “most likely” to get the start this weekend as Christian Ponder has still not been cleared from a recent concussion.

Even HC Leslie Frazier suggested that Cassel was likely going to be their quarterback, so all signs have pointed to Cassel being under center on Sunday.

Interestingly enough, Cassel has played in every game the Vikings have managed to win this season. He has completed over 63 percent of his passes for 857 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions.

Against the Bears, Cassel actually looked very good as he was consistently throwing the ball over 15 yards as he led them to a win. At this point it appears as though Josh Freeman will not get another shot at starting before he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
