Bengals, Vikings & A Mystery Team All In The Mix For OL Vlad Ducasse

Update:

Darren Wolfson reports that there is no verbal agreement between the Vikings and free agent OL Vlad Ducasse as of now.

  • Wolfson adds that this could change in the coming days, but the Bengals still “have a shot,” as does a mystery team as well.
  • Ben Goessling reports there is “mutual interest” between the Ducasse and the Vikings, but confirms that two other teams are in the mix.

The only other team we’ve seen connected to Ducasse is the Jets, but there is course a chance that it could be someone else all together.

Ducasse, 26, was a former second-round pick of the Jets but has yet to develop into a solid offensive lineman. Last year, he played 331 snaps for the Jets and was largely ineffective as a pass-protector.

Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 56 guard in the league last season.

Kristian Dyer is “hearing from sources” that the Minnesota Vikings are likely to sign free agent OL Vlad Ducasse at some point in the near future.

  • Dyer adds that Ducasse has reportedly chosen the Vikings over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Ducasse recently visited with both teams last week, so they clearly have him on their radar.

  • Seth Walder confirmed with a source that the Jets “expressed interest” in re-signing Ducasse, however, there hasn’t been a lot of buzz in recent days regarding a new contract.

—————-

ESPN’s Adam Caplan first reported that free agent OL Vlad Ducasse will first visit with the Bengals first and then meet with Vikings afterward.

The Bengals could really use some extra help now that they’ve lost Anthony Collins to the Buccaneers and figure to move forward with Andrew Whitworth at left tackle.
