Report: Broncos Agree To Terms With WR Wes Welker

Update:

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Broncos have officially reached an agreement with free agent WR Wes Welker.

Schefter adds that Welker will receive a two-year deal worth $12 million. Jeff Howe reports that all $12 million of Welker’s contract is fully guaranteed.

Albert Breer reports that the Patriots’ final offer to Welker was $10 million over two years and included incentives.

There were reports that the market for slot receivers is very poor right now and this further illustrates that. It’s going to be hard for guys like Danny Amendola to walk away with decent money.

We had him listed as the No. 12 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Here’s the latest on Wes Welker possibly signing with the Broncos.

  • Albert Breer reports that the Broncos have made Wes Welker a multi-year offer.
  • Michael Giardi reports that a “source close to the situation” has informed him that Wes Welker has gone back to the Patriots to see if they can match the Broncos offer.
  • Mike Silver reports that the Broncos are “almost done” with a deal that will bring free agent WR Wes Welker to Denver.
  • Albert Breer adds that his sources have informed him that the two sides are currently “deep in talks” and “optimistic” on a deal coming together.
  • Greg Bedard reports that a league source has informed him that  Wes Welker is “very likely” to sign with the Denver Broncos.
  • ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that free agent WR Wes Welker is in “serious talks” with the Denver Broncos. Schefter adds that the two sides are reportedly trying to “trying to hammer out an agreement.

Denver could definitely use a slot a receiver, but it’s going to be very surprising to see Peyton Manning throwing to Welker next season. Assuming of course that this deal is completed.
