Reuben Foster’s Misdemeanor Marijuana Case Dismissed

Matt Barrows reports that 49ers ILB Reuben Foster’s misdemeanor marijuana case in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama has been dismissed after he completed a diversion course.

  • Mike Garafolo adds that Foster’s case in Alabama will still be subject to review under the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.

Foster was facing a second-degree marijuana possession charge for a January arrest and he was due in court on June 20.

This comes just a few days after a judge ruled that there wasn’t insufficient evidence to proceed with domestic violence charges against Foster made by his ex-girlfriend.

The Judge cited how Foster’s ex-girlfriend was “unusually calm” in 911 calls, had no photo evidence of injuries from being punched, and the fact that she previously went to jail for false domestic violence claims against another ex-boyfriend.

Foster, 24, is a former first-round pick of the 49ers back in 2017. He’s entering the second year of his four-year, $9.03 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $875,708 and $1.28 million over the next two years of the agreement.

The 49ers will have a fifth-year option to pick up in 2020 that’s guaranteed for injury only.

In 2017, Foster appeared in 10 games and recorded 72 tackles, no sacks or interceptions and one pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 4 linebacker out of 88 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Foster as the news is available.
