Rex Ryan Looking To Hire Marc Trestman As His Offensive Coordinator

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Rex Ryan has been making his strongest pitches for hiring former Bears HC Marc Trestman as his offensive coordinator in interviews with prospective teams.

According to Rapoport, Ryan and Trestman want to pair up next year, if he gets another head-coaching job.

Ryan’s name has been connected to a number of head-coaching opportunities in the past few weeks, but it appears as though the 49ers and Falcons are his top-two options.

The Buffalo Bills have also come up as an option, but they have yet to interview Ryan and a report mentioned that they are concerned Ryan may not be interested in taking their head-coaching job, due to their unsettled quarterback situation.

Even if Ryan is unable to get another job as an NFL head coach, he is expected to take a position with either CBS or ESPN as an analyst.

As for Trestman, he’s found interest from a few teams in need of offensive coordinators such as the Jaguars and Browns, but his best opportunity could be to follow Ryan if he lands a job.
