Richie Incognito Thought Government Officials Were Tracking & Recording Him

Andy Slater has obtained the full police report from the incident involving free agent G Richie Incognito on Wednesday in which he was placed in an involuntary psychiatric hold to be evaluated cops were called at a gym.

According to the police report, Incognito thought government officials were tracking and recording him.

Regarding Wednesday’s incident, Incognito was reportedly working out when he got into an argument with another a man who was working out. According to TMZ, Incognito first threw a tennis ball at him for no reason before grabbing a dumbbell and heaving that as well.

The alleged victim said Incognito was rambling about the government and screaming at the man to “get off my f*cking playground.”

Police were later called to the scene and took Incognito away, but didn’t formally arrest him. Instead, TMZ reports that Incognito was placed in an involuntary psychiatric hold to be evaluated, which isn’t technically an arrest, but a forced mental evaluation.

TMZ notes that this isn’t the first time Incognito has been placed on an involuntary psych hold. The same thing happened a few years ago following the Jonathan Martin bullying scandal.

The Bills recently released Incognito from the retired list, making him a free agent.

Adam Schefter later reported that Incognito wants to unretire and continue his NFL career and is hoping to sign on a with a new team before the start of the 2018 season.

Incognito made the decision to retire this offseason a few months after agreeing to a $2.675 million pay cut with the Bills. He fired his agency and said he was retiring because of health issues but later indicated he was no longer retiring.

It’s clear that Incognito is in need of some help.

Incognito, 34, is a former third-round pick of the Rams back in 2005. He played three years for the Rams and one year for the Bills before signing on with the Dolphins in 2010.

After four years in Miami, Incognito was released and out of football for a year before securing another shot with the Bills in 2015.

Incognito was in the final year of his three-year, $15.75 million contract that included $5.45 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $6.32 million for the 2018 season when he agreed to the restructured deal. The Bills released him from the retired list earlier this week.

In 2017, Incognito appeared in all 16 games for the Bills and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 12 guard out of 77 qualifying players.
