Ricky Jean Francois Meeting With Bears Ends Without Deal, Will Visit Seahawks Next

Josina Anderson reports that free agent DL Ricky Jean Francois‘ visit with the Bears has concluded without an agreement. Although, he had a good talk with Bears HC John Fox and DC Vic Fangio among others.

Jean Francois is now scheduled to meet with the Seahawks next.

Francois, 30, is a former seventh-round pick of the 49ers back in 2009. He played four seasons for San Francisco before departing and signing on with the Colts as an unrestricted free agent.

After two years, the Colts cut Jean-Francois loose and he signed a three-year, $9 million contract with the Redskins in February of 2015. He was set to make a base salary of $2.75 million for the 2017 season when the Redskins released him in a move that freed up $3 million of available cap space.

In 2016, Jean Francois appeared in all 16 games for the Redskins and recorded 32 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a pass defense. ProFootballFocus rated him as the No. 45 overall interior defender out of 127 qualifying players.
