Robert Kraft Believes They Can Keep Bill Belichick & Tom Brady Together For Foreseeable Future

Patriots owner Robert Kraft mentioned during an appearance on NFL Network Sunday that he believes they can keep HC Bill Belichick and Tom Brady in place for the foreseeable future.

“Well whatever I can do, you know. In life, you know, the hardest thing is to surround yourself with quality people, even in a marriage if it’s your partner, and then having continuity,” Kraft said when asked about keeping continuity. “Life is difficult, especially if you’re doing things at a high level. Having continuity, keeping things going… You know that fact that Tommy and Bill Belichick and my family have been together for 18 years.”

Although, Kraft did say that some egos will need to be kept in check.

“There’s a lot of strong-minded people, but when you have something good going, everybody’s got to get their egos checked in and try to hold it together,” Kraft said.

Seth Wickersham of ESPN reportedly a few weeks ago there’s a “palpable sense” within the Patriots that this could be the last year that Brady, Belichick and Kraft will be together in New England.

However, the Patriots have openly downplayed the reported concerns within the team in recent weeks.

• Belichick told reporters that he “absolutely” expects to be back as the Patriots’ head coach for the 2018 season, per Ben Volin.
• Before that, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that there’s a “zero-point-zero percent” chance Belichick leaves the Patriots. Sources have told Florio that Belichick is under contract for multiple years and he’s believed to be making $12.5 million per year as part of his current deal.
• Kraft later told Peter King of TheMMQB.com that he “absolutely” believes Belichick will be the coach of the team in 2018 and he won’t trade his head coach: “When you’re lucky enough to have someone exceptional, you let them do their job and you get out of the way.”

While there may be some concerns about the Patriots’ long-term plans at quarterback, it’s clear that the team is in good hands for as long as Belichick remains in New England.
