Robert Kraft Would Be Surprised If Tom Brady Wasn’t Back As QB For “Quite A While”

Patriots owner Robert Kraft told reporters on Wednesday that he would be “quite surprised” if Tom Brady didn’t continue as their quarterback for “quite a while.”

“Think about it, the last three years, we’ve been privileged to go to the Super Bowl with a quarterback in place,” Kraft said when asked about the possibility of extension Brady’s contract, per Mike Reiss. “I would be quite surprised if he didn’t continue for quite a while as our quarterback.”

Last weekend, Brady said in an interview with ESPN’s Jeff Darlington (per Dianna Russini) there’s a “zero” percent chance Sunday’s Super Bowl will be his final game.

Brady went on to say his personal goal is to play until he’s 45 years old.

Back in December interview, Brady explained that football is what he loves and he’s thankful to be able to play the game for as long as he has.

“I’ve been able to be in a career for 19 years that I love,” Brady said, per Mike Reiss. “I wake up every day excited to go to work … fulfilled … I don’t think there’s any greater gift in my life than to have that … In my heart and soul, I love playing the sport of football.

Brady, 41, is a former sixth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2000. He signed a two-year, $41 million contract extension with the Patriots back in 2016, which included a $28 million signing bonus. Brady stands to make a base salary of just $15 million in 2019.

In 2018, Brady appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and completed 65.8 percent of their passes for 4,355 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 quarterback out of 38 qualifying players.
